A $20 million internet marketing strategy has been unveiled by the Australian Government as it attempts to attract more internet businesses to the country.
The Government’s strategy is to set up three hubs for internet marketing that would provide digital services, help businesses and consumers build their digital business and offer a range of services.
The new internet marketing centres will be located in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and will be funded by the Commonwealth Government’s digital marketing levy.
The centres will provide internet marketing to businesses, help consumers build and expand their digital businesses and offer the digital services that online businesses need.
They will also provide access to services such as marketing automation, content marketing and digital content delivery.
“The internet marketing plan will bring forward digital businesses that are already providing services to consumers and provide opportunities for businesses to become digital innovators,” Industry Minister Andrew Robb said.
“It will also build on the digital infrastructure in place to deliver the internet marketing plans that consumers have been asking for.”
The new hubs are expected to have a capacity of 250 to 300 people.
“I’m pleased to be able to announce that the Government’s Digital Marketing Strategy is delivering on its commitment to ensure Australians are able to use the internet to reach their digital goals,” Mr Robb said in a statement.
“While I am still working on the details of the Digital Marketing Plan, I am confident that the new centres will help to bring the internet economy in the 21st century.”
Mr Robb said the new internet hubs would also help increase the number of Australian internet businesses in the local market.
“In the past few years we have seen an increase in the number and variety of Australian businesses offering online services to customers, and this will only continue to grow,” he said.
