JACKSONVILLE, Fla.
— Google Inc. has won a $40-million online advertising prize for its program that lets marketers target ads to B2B marketers and the general public.
The $40,000 award, announced Thursday, is part of a $150-million investment by Google in online marketing in 2017.
The program is known as Google B2.
B2B.
Google said it would use the money to expand its advertising program and expand its reach in digital and mobile.
Google said it was also launching a new, faster Google B-to-B2C online advertising program in 2018.
Google B2C ads were among the first to be rolled out to the general online marketplaces in late 2013.
Google was not immediately available for comment on Thursday.
The B2 online advertising industry has seen a surge in spending in recent years as advertisers sought to reach consumers more quickly, and some B2 advertisers have gone online with more than $30 billion in revenue.
Google has been trying to create a B2 market, or online advertising that doesn’t involve an advertiser, with a focus on content and advertising targeting, with less emphasis on the need to create relationships with consumers.
